CDPA Savannah Winners

Scottish Highland dancers from the Centre for Dance & the Performing Arts had quite a winning day at the Southeastern Regional Championships May 10 in Savannah, Ga. Four of CDPA’s premier level dancers qualified for the national championships with their placing at the regional event.

Elizabeth Karpov, a rising sixth-grader at Lakeview Middle School, placed first runner-up in the 11-and-under division. Courtney McHale (Lakeview seventh-grader), Kendall DeFranco (Sunridge seventh-grader) and Lane Griffith (Bridgewater seventh-grader) took the winning spots in the 12-and-under-14 division as first, second and third runners-up respectively.

All four girls won a place at the USIR (United States Inter-regional Championships) as four of the top 96 Scottish Highland Dancers in the United States.

Also a big winner that day was Anna Binkley, who not only took the trophy awards in the Novice category but was awarded the honor award of Most Promising Pre-Premier by a panel of three judges.
