After a delay caused by Hurricane Irma back in September, the dedication for the Minnehaha Park Observation Deck will take place on Nov. 4 at 10 a.m.

The deck, which is 18-feet-wide and 12-feet-long will allow visitors to Lake Minnehaha a clear view of the 90-plus-acre body of water.

The project was the brainchild of Howard Schieferdecker, the former mayor of Maitland, who lives on the lake.

Back in 2015 Schieferdecker decided he wanted residents to be able to enjoy the lake as he had been able to each day.

The deck was approved by the City's Planning & Zoning Commission and Lakes Advisory Board last year, while the Maitland City Council voted in favor for it in a 3-2 vote.
