Healthy West Orange is making its way into downtown Winter Garden with some new renovations.
The West Orange Chamber of Commerce announced in a press release on Tuesday, Aug. 24, that the area will be receiving a makeover at 21 E. Plant St. with the help of a $1.25 million grant awarded to the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation by the West Orange Healthcare District.
The transformation will include space for wellness education, event activations and a new location for HUBB, an interactive program that connects residents to local health services, according to the release.
“Our partnership with the district will help make the center an even more attractive place to visit, learn, engage and enjoy,” said Winter Garden Heritage Foundation Board President Frank Chase in the release. “It gives Healthy West Orange a place to grow, and it also means more people will be exposed to our area’s unique history. In the end, it will create a greater sense of community here, which is what we’re all about.”
The current 5,300-square-foot Winter Garden Heritage Foundation History Research and Education Center will be converted into the “Healthy West Orange Heritage and Cultural Center at Winter Garden," with extensive education materials, a free online resource center and health-related local assistance programs.
Construction dates have not yet been announced.
