It’s a sad fact that not every child in America has a comfortable place to sleep at night, but the volunteers who took part in the nationwide Bunks Across America event on June 15 hope to help address that problem.

Locally, about 300 volunteers gathered at the West Orange Dream Center in East Winter Garden to construct 94 beds, which formed 47 bunk beds, in honor of the Bunks Across America event. The nationwide event brings volunteers together to construct bunk beds for children in need.

Bunks Across America is organized by Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit organization that builds, assembles and delivers bunk beds to children and families in need. The bed-building event involved more than 6000 volunteers from more than 100 local chapters of Sleep in Heavenly Peace across the country.

The Orlando West Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace organized the local bed-build event at the West Orange Dream Center. The event was sponsored by the IronMen of God in Winter Garden in cooperation with the East Winter Garden Community Association.
