The girls golf teams for Dr. Phillips and West Orange both placed in the top five in the state at the FHSAA Class 4A Golf Finals this week in Tavares.

The Panthers placed fourth at the two-day event, shooting a combined 639, while the Warriors placed fifth by shooting a combined 656. Viera won the 2014 state championship, shooting a 625.

Dr. Phillips was led by senior Sophie Benetti, who shot a combined 153 for the tournament — tied for eighth as an individual. Sophomore Jennifer Jung shot a 157, freshman Carlye Moore shot a 160, Senior Cristine Lee shot a 169 and freshman Emma Hallson shot a 178 to round out the Panthers' roster at states.

West Orange's Lina Brooks, a junior, tied for 12th place as an individual and led the Warriors with a 155. Sophomore Keona Evans shot a 160, sophomore Aly Moya shot a 169, freshman Michelle Bagsic shot a 172 and senior Bianca Aldir shot a 180 for West Orange.

At the Class 1A Golf Finals in Howey-in-the-Hills, Windermere Prep's Gaby Coello, a junior, finished tied for eighth as an individual with a two-round score of 152.
