It took the Edgewater Eagles six minutes to start hanging points on the scoreboard against Seabreeze, and they didn’t stop until the game was a 35-0 blowout. Now Class 6A District 10’s big surprise is on its way to the semis.

Craig Rucker started things off with a 35-yard rushing touchdown, then added two more later in the game while Buck Watkins caught a TD from inside the red zone to keep Seabreeze guessing.

Edgewater had already run up the score 28-0 by halftime, and cruised from there.

By the time the Eagles snagged an interception and returned it half the field, it was icing on the cake time, as they stamped their ticket to the semifinal round of regional action with an undefeated Mainland waiting.

The Buccaneers have shut out almost half the teams they’ve played in their 11-0 season, destroying South Lake in the first round of the playoffs 42-7.

They’ll get to play host to the Eagles at Municipal Stadium in Daytona at 7:30 p.m. this Friday in a do-or-die game.
