The Edgewater Eagles’ unlikely bid in the regional football playoffs ended on the field at Evans High School on Nov. 16, as they fell 35-6 to the Trojans to end their postseason run.

A fourth quarter charge was too little, too late for the Eagles (3-8, 1-3), who fell behind early in the game when Evans (9-2, 4-0) made three trips to the end zone in just six minutes in the first quarter.

After a wild second quarter by the Trojans that put the game well out of reach at 35-0, where the score stood until three minutes before the end of the game, quarterback J.B. Woodman handed the ball off to a sprinting Arthur Brown three yards out to score the Eagles’ only points of the game.

The Eagles’ had nearly stonewalled the Trojans three times in the first half of the game near the red zone before Evans found a way through.

The loss dealt a killer blow to the Eagles’ season, knocking them out of the playoffs.
