The Orlando Repertory Theatre (The REP) invites families to attend the Sixth Annual Target Family Theatre Festival in Loch Haven Park from July 20 to Aug. 5. The festival features performances by Grammy-nominated Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could, Mr. Richard and the Pound Hounds, Pirate School!, Nels Ross, Katie Couric’s “The Brand New Kid,” magician Tony Brent, Davey Rocker’s Barnyard Jam, and the Youth Academy production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “State Fair.” All of the shows are free, with the exception of “State Fair” ($15) and “The Brand New Kid” ($10). The 55-year-old Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras has openings for their annual summer day camp, Stringmania, a two-week program for string players ages 7 to 15 who are playing at a Suzuki book 2 level or higher. Enzian’s popcorn flicks in Central Park will feature “The Great Muppet Caper” from 8-10 p.m. on Thursday, July 26. This event was rained out on July 12. Visit enzian.org

This month’s popcorn flicks will feature “Babe” at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9. Gather friends, grab a blanket, and enjoy classic family films once a month under the stars in Winter Park’s Central Park. Films and popcorn are free compliments of Enzian. The Art & History Museums – Maitland and the Cornell Fine Arts Museum on the Rollins College campus take part in the Blue Star Museums program, in which active duty military and their families can enjoy free museum admission at more than 1,500 museums nationwide from Memorial Day until Labor Day. At 10:30 a.m. each Tuesday, the Maitland Public Library hosts preschool story and craft time. At 10:30 a.m. each Thursday, it hosts baby time stories and activities. At 4 p.m. each Thursday, it hosts Reading Buddies for kindergarten through fifth grade. Call 407-647-7700.

There is still time to register for Winter Park Day Nursery’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program that will begin on Aug. 20. The VPK program is free to all children who will be age 4 before Sept. 1. VPK sessions will run half days from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday.
