Orange County Fire Rescue firefighters from Station 35 off Winter Garden Vineland Road in Windermere rescued 12 ducklings that were stuck in a storm drain in the Enclave at Berkshire Park neighborhood.

Resident Amy Costello said she was driving on Derexa Road when she saw a mother duck in distress.

"She was going back and forth in the street," she said. "So I got out of my car, and I heard baby ducklings in the drain. I wasn't sure who I needed to call, so I went to the fire department near Walgreens, and I told them what was going on. They said need they will be right over. Within five minutes, they were here."

The firefighters worked for about two hours to rescue the ducklings. After collecting them all in a bin, the firefighters took the ducklings to a nearby pond, where they were reunited with their mother.

"The baby ducklings are too small to jump the curb, so they fell back into the drain," Costello said. "That's how they got in there."
