Football: Class 2A, 3A playoff points system averages, projections for Oct. 3 -- Observer Preps

The FHSAA tallied up and released its first playoff points system averages Wednesday afternoon, lending some clarity to the playoff picture in Classes 1A-4A.

The FHSAA tallied up and released the projected points average for each team in the state series system Oct. 3, giving the high-school football community in Florida its first taste of what the postseason process will shape up like under the new points system as the season continues along at its midway point.

Below, we have the regional standings for regions in Class 1A-4A that include teams covered by Observer Preps (bolded below).

Unlike the upper classifications, whose awarding of playoff spots is somewhat complicated by the decision to keep district champions as automatic entries to the postseason, the way the point system works in Classes 1A-4A this season is relatively easy to understand: Because there are no districts, the top four teams in each region make the playoffs.
