Former Bright Horizons preschool teacher arrested

A former Baldwin Park preschool teacher is in custody today.

Jayrico Hamilton, 25, who once taught at Bright Horizons, was arrested today by the Orlando Police Department and charged with sexual battery in regard to a victim under the age of 12 — which includes lewd or lascivious molestation, and lewd or lascivious conduct and child abuse, the department stated.

He was booked into the Orange County Corrections Facility on Tuesday at 2:47 p.m.

Last June allegations arose that Hamilton had sexually abused three preschool-aged children at Bright Horizons. A lawsuit was then filed by the parents of a 4-year-old boy that alleges that someone at the school had sexually abused the boy.

Later in November the Department of Children and Families ordered the facility to pay $700 in fines. Brighter Horizon's preschool license was also suspended for 90-days, while Hamilton was fired. The director was placed on administrative leave according to the suit.
