WINTER GARDEN Sophomore quarterback Henry Austad had three rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown and the Foundation Academy Lions continued their upward swing with a 28-22 victory over visiting Carrollwood Day Monday night.

The game took place with just two days of rest between it and the Lions' 29-8 road victory against Jacksonville's North Florida Educational Institute, something Foundation Academy head coach Brad Lord said had an effect on his team early on.

"We were sluggish to start," Lord said. "As a team, we played everyone tonight because we're tired."

The Lions (4-3) trailed 22-21 to begin the fourth quarter. A long run by Luke Birk set up Austad's third touchdown run with 9:39 to play, what would become the game's deciding touchdown. An interception by Grayson Wagner with 5:29 remaining returned the ball to Foundation and helped it seal its victory.

Senior Kenny Ames was on the receiving end of Austad's touchdown pass.

The win was important for the Lions, who remain in contention for a playoff berth in Class 2A.

"It was a big win and Friday night we can go to 5-3," Lord said.
