The West Orange community can help fund an 1887 Schoolhouse Eagle Scout project.

The Town of Windermere, the Windermere Historic Preservation Board and the Eagle Scouts are coming together to support local Eagle Scout candidate Camila Barbosa.

Barbosa, from Troop 320, has picked the 1887 Schoolhouse as her Eagle Scout project.

Opened in 1887, the Schoolhouse is the only surviving one-room school house in Orange County and one of the few still standing in Florida.

According to the town, Barbosa plans to create three separate gravel walkways around the schoolhouse.

Barbosa said, “The paths will help make this historic landmark more visible to the public as well as help the beautification of the area.”

In order to fund the project, Barbosa needs $1,200.

Locals can help Barbosa by donating to the project’s GoFundMe.
