Kissimmee resident killed in Reams Road head-on collision

The collision occurred near the intersection of Reams Road and Greenbank Boulevard in Horizon West Tuesday night.

HORIZON WEST  A Kissimmee resident was killed in a head-on collision on Reams Road in Horizon West Tuesday evening.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, when a car driven by 20-year-old Orlando resident Joseph Moss was traveling southbound on Reams Road near Greenbank Boulevard as 27-year-old Angel Febus Rios was driving northbound. State troopers said that Moss’s car drove into the northbound lane for an unknown reason, striking Rios’s vehicle.

Rios was taken to Celebration Hospital in Kissimmee, where he succumbed to his injuries. Moss and his passenger, 25-year-old Winter Garden resident Carly Velez Soto, each suffered serious injuries and were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

According to troopers, the crash was not alcohol related and everyone involved was wearing a seat belt. The crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending.
