The Knights may have fallen in their semifinal against Creighton, but that 82-64 loss did little to dampen Head Coach Donnie Jones’ outlook on the season. They’d just finished 21-12, one of the team’s best records since joining NCAA Division I basketball.

“We want to keep this alive and win this,” Jones said before Wednesday night’s game.

He had good reason for optimism. The Knights had a pair of victories in the CBI tournament — their first two in a postseason, non-conference tournament since joining the NCAA’s top tier.

Leading into the week, the Knights were still riding high. March 21 was a very happy birthday for A.J. Rompza, as he helped the Knights push deeper into the postseason with a 66-54 win over Rhode Island.
