A local Horizon West photography family is hosting a special meet and greet event this weekend.

Wei-Shen Chin, who we told you about here, found his love for photography unexpectedly in the 1980s.

Now, more than 40 years later, Chin is sharing his love of photography with his family: his wife Lynn and their three children, Lauren, 14, Nicole, 12, and Matthew, 10.

The children won 10 of the 15 places in the Audubon 2021 Chertok Photo Competition youth division, including a first-place award for one of Matthew’s images.

The whole family will host a social gathering to talk about nature photography from 8-11 a.m. on Sunday, May 15, at Newton Park.

The family will bring copies of their new 22 page textbook Central Florida Birds along with photo enlargements of some of their most popular images.

In addition, the family will go over the techniques used to acquire bird images, demonstrate how to use camera gear and more.
