Loop Cafe recently hosted the first meeting of its new run club in Windermere.

The cafe, located at 13790 Bridgewater Crossings Blvd., has become a popular breakfast and lunch spot for locals and visitors alike.

The idea began when Pedro Viggiano, co-owner of Loop Cafe, and Andre Gracindo, who will be a co-trainer and coach for the club, realized there were no run clubs in the area.

Yet, the two said there was a demand for a club, with a lot of inquiries coming into the cafe on if there were any in the area.

The first club meeting took place on Tuesday, March 1, with the help of Fredison Costa, a seven-time winner of the Disney Marathon and a successful and well known Brazilian athlete.

Costa will help to work with the advanced runners while Gracindo will be coaching those who are training to become better runners or who choose to walk to stay active.

The club is sponsored with the help of New York Life for the Windermere and Horizon West area.

"The goal is to bring people of the community together, get everyone outdoors and active again, and to help with spreading local awareness of Loop Cafe," the cafe said. "This would also apply to any other companies that would like to sponsor the club in the future."

With the sponsorship, the first two months would be free to join and try out the club.

Loop Cafe said the key is to bring people together and outdoors.

There will be no age requirement for members but a waiver must be signed in order to participate.

Although the club is free for the next two months, there will be a club fee associated with those who choose to join as the club expands in the future.

The run club will meet at Loop Cafe every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6 p.m.

"We're really hoping this becomes a great way for people in the community to connect again both as neighbors and with local businesses," Loop Cafe said.

Loop Cafe serves coffee, beer and wine, and a multitude of savory and sweet food options such as its Nutella toast, crab cakes, meat and cheese board, pizzas, and mochi.
