Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies found a 93-year-old man dead on the morning of April 1 at 7821 Killary Court in the Ocoee-Pine Hills area, according to office reports.

Detectives have opened a homicide investigation after they had to use forced entry to access the residence, where they found Roman Krygier, a retired Illinois chiropractor and military veteran, dead with signs of decomposition.

Krygier lived alone but was active in the community, last seen alive March 30, according to reports. A friend who spoke with Krygier around 3 p.m. March 30 told law enforcement officials on April 1 that Krygier had not been in contact for two days, which was unusual. This led to deputies checking on his home and finding him dead not three weeks before his 94th birthday.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone with information, especially regarding any person who may have exhibited suspicious behavior in the area on March 30 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., to contact Crimeline: Call (800) 423-8477, visit crimeline.org or text "crimeline" plus tip information to CRIMES (274637).
