Meet the candidates for Florida House of Representatives District 44

The two Florida House District 44 candidates shared their position on state and local issues in an exclusive Q&A with the West Orange Times and Observer.

Democratic candidate Geraldine Thompson is challenging Republican state Rep. Robert “Bobby” Olszewski for the Florida House of Representatives District 44 seat.

Olszewski, 41, is a former Winter Garden city commissioner and has served as the District 44 state representative since October 2017. Thompson, 69, is a Windermere resident who has served three terms in the state House and two terms in the state Senate.

Thompson won the Aug. 28 Democratic primary for District 44, while Olszewski ran unopposed in the 2018 Republican primary. Now the two will face off during the Nov. 6 general election. 

The early voting period in Orange County is from Monday, Oct. 22 to Sunday, Nov. 4. For more information about early voting, visit the Orange County Supervisor of Elections website at ocfelections.com.
