The Orange County School Board District 7 seat, which represents schools in northwest Orange County, is up for election.

The four candidates are Chan-Denise Raquel Budhoo and Melissa Byrd who are both from Apopka, Jeff Richardson of Ocoee, and Eric Schwalbach of Winter Garden, who will all face off in the upcoming primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 28. If none of the candidates receive more than 50% of the vote Aug. 28, the top two will face off in a runoff election on Nov. 6.

The election for District 7 is a special election because School Board Member Christine Moore is resigning in order to run for the Orange County Commission seat for District 2. As it is a special election, the winner will serve a two-year term.
