The new middle school being developed at Silver Grove Blvd in Winter Garden is looking for a name, and OCPS is asking for community input. A survey is now out for the community to fill out with their thoughts on what the new school should be named.

"We are so excited to embark on this new school adventure with such an amazing community! As we get closer to the opening of our new school building, we want to reach out to community members to help select a name for the next great OCPS middle school!" new principal Dr. Suzanne Knight, former principal at Dr. Phillips High School, said in the survey.

When deciding a name, the school is looking for the following criteria:

  • The grade configuration of the school.
  • The historical or current name of the community or local area in which the school is located.
  • The historical or geographical features of the community or local area where the school is located.
  • The names of persons who have made outstanding contributions or otherwise have significant meaning to members of the school community.

The survey will close on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 4 pm.
