Vikki A. Chitwood, 66, of Ocoee, Florida, passed away March 20, 2016. Vikki was born in El Paso, Texas, on Feb. 23, 1950. She was a graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School and also graduated from Daytona Beach Community College with a degree in nursing. She was an RN at Lucerne Hospital in Orlando and also an RN at Same Day Surgery Center in Orlando before retiring due to illness.

Vikki received a heart transplant from Shands Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida, 18 years ago and was one of the longest-living heart transplant patients in Florida.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Winter Garden and served as special projects and activities coordinator for many years. Previously she had been selected Disciple of the Year of the church in 1999 and was a member of the UMW Idea Seekers. Vikki was also active in the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Frances Chitwood. She is survived by her brother, James Chitwood, and his wife, Vicki, of Reistertown, Maryland; sister, Donna Augustine, and her husband, Ed Augustine, and their daughters, Tiffany Augustine of Clermont, Florida, and Pam Lane of Port Orange, Florida; brother, Albert Chitwood of Lake Mary, Florida; brother, Gregory Chitwood, and his wife, Belinda, and their daughter, August Chitwood, of Crawfordville, Florida. 
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. April 2, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Winter Garden.
