Observer Preps Team of the Week: CFCA Football

The Eagles have been impressive through two weeks, starting the season 2-0, and seem to have a new energy under second-year coach Jeremy Campbell.

In each of the past two seasons, the CFCA Eagles have started with Week One victories over Cornerstone Charter.

In Week Two of the 2017 season, though, CFCA was defeated 36-0 by West Oaks Academy in a loss that began a seven-game losing streak punctuated by injuries.

This time around, though, the Eagles got to face Lake Mary Prep in Week Two — a team it had been defeated by during that losing streak a season ago — and CFCA instead earned a dramatic 24-22 win.

Even the respective Week One victories against Cornerstone Charter were different from year-to-year — in 2017, the Eagles needed a late touchdown, but in 2018 they cruised to a 40-0 victory.

Through two games, CFCA has outscored its opponents 64-22, ahead of a big road game against All Saints' Academy (2-0) on Friday.

It is safe to say that CFCA football has an improved energy about it this fall — in addition to improved roster depth — making them a team to watch in the Sunshine State Athletic Conference this fall, as well as our first Observer Preps Team of the Week for the fall of 2018.

The Observer Preps Team of the Week feature is presented by State Farm Insurance Agent Jo Barsh.
