+ Emeritus hosts antique car show

Emeritus at Ocoee, 80 N. Clarke Road, hosted its annual Father’s Day event June 14 with more than 16 classic cars on display. Enjoying the event were Emeritus residents and the car owners.

+ Students receive Rotary scholarships

Pam Bozkurt, past president of the Rotary Club of Ocoee, recently presented Samario Mattachione and Jessica Mojica with  $1,000 scholarships. Mattachione will attend UCF and major in engineering. Mojica will initially attend Valencia College and then transfer to UCF. She will study biology.

+ Ocoee High to sell parking hangars

Parking hangers for the 2014-15 school year will be sold in Ocoee High School’s attendance office from 8 a.m. to noon July 28-30 and 1-3 p.m. July 31.

They will be sold to seniors only on July 28, to juniors only on July 29, to sophomores only on July 30 and to seniors, juniors and sophomores on July 31.

Students must bring in their Florida driver’s license, current registration and proof of insurance for the vehicle they will be driving. The address on the license must match the address that the school has on file.

All financial obligations must be paid before a hanger can be purchased. The parking hangers cost $60, payable by cash or check.

+ Rotary awards scholarship

Vania Colina, president of the Rotary Club of Ocoee, presents Justin Butler with his $1,000 scholarship. Butler will attend Florida State University and major in theatre.

+ Woman’s Club to host benefit

At 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24, The GFWC Woman’s Club of Ocoee will host a Bunco Fundraiser for the Valencia Foundation Criminal Justice Program in memory of Deputy Jonathan Scott Pine.

The event will take place at the Woman’s Club of Ocoee, 4 N. Lakewood Drive. Tickets are $10 per person. The fundraiser is open to the public and will include refreshments, a 50/50 raffle and a basket raffle. To buy tickets, call Teresa Lemons at (407) 579-7977.

+ W.O. Seniors are busy having fun

The West Orange Seniors enjoy many events at the Tom Ison Center, 1701 Adair St., Ocoee. Here is their updated schedule:

The center will host a potluck luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17.

The seniors will visit the Hard Rock Café in Tampa on Saturday, July 19. The cost is $15 per person.

A trip to the Golden Flake & Appleton Museum, with lunch, is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 23. The cost is $65 per person.

+ Krueger, Wilson named to dean’s lists

Cody Krueger, of Ocoee, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

Alexa Wilson, of Ocoee, was named to the spring 2014 dean’s list at the Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
