Ocoee Commission meeting set for Jan. 17

Tonight, Ocoee commissioners will vote on the second reading for ordinances concerning a new charter school and a special magistrate.

1. Montessori School of Innovation

Tonight, commissioners will see the second reading for a proposed charter school by the name of Innovation Montessori of Ocoee. The school seeks annexation and the initial zoning for 17.6 acres of property, five of which are wetlands. The future school is to be situated on the west side of North Lakewood Avenue, south of Fullers Cross Road and north of Wurst Road. Under consideration with this ordinance is approval of the preliminary site plan for the school, which plans to house four buildings and 800 students from pre-k to 8th grade.

2. Code Enforcement Special Magistrate

Also up for a second reading and public hearing is item No. 10 on the agenda is an ordinance pertaining to the use of a special magistrate to supplement the volunteer-based Code Enforcement Board, which oversees cases regarding code compliance matters. The commissioner's approval of this ordinance would divide jurisdiction of code compliance matters according to category. The special magistrate would manage all cases relating to commercial property and the CEB would manage cases for residential property.

Note: The second reading and public hearing for the final site plan of The Park at 429 PUD will be held during the Feb. 7 Ocoee commission meeting.
