Ocoee names new fire chief

OCOEE — There's a new chief in town for the Ocoee Fire Department.

City manager Robert Frank announced on Wednesday the appointing of John Miller as the department's new fire chief. Miller comes to Ocoee after serving as fire chief for the city of Orlando since 2010 and has more than 26 years of experience in the field for a number of departments, including Kissimmee and Eatonville.

Miller will begin his duties serving Ocoee on March 23.

Miller received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Columbia College and currently serves as the East Central Regional Director for the Florida Fire Chiefs Association. He is the Vice President for the Central Florida Fire Chiefs Association and is the chairman for the Fire Science Institute Advisory Board with Valencia College.
