Ocoee to consider land sale

The City of Ocoee is considering the sale of one of its properties.

City leaders will be taking action during the Feb. 18 commission meeting on the sale of a property located at 8815 Hackney Prairie Road. A public hearing is scheduled before the commissioners will be voting on the matter. 

The city purchased the property, which is about 2.69 acres in size, in May 2019 for $490,000 for stormwater mitigation purposes. After acquiring the property, city staff determined that only approximately one acre would be needed for drainage. Staff determined that the remainder of the property, which is approximately 1.91 acres, along Hackney Prairie Road could be sold or used for purposes other than draining. The city received a letter of intent on December 2019 from a buyer willing to purchase the remaining 1.91-acre property for $360,000.
