WEST ORANGE COUNTY  Students of Olympia High School were conversing via social media Tuesday, Oct. 27, when one perceived a threat from another, Orange County Sheriff's Office officials said.

School officials alerted parents to the situation, causing many to pull their children from school, but the threat was not credible, authorities said.

Authorities said the situation might have been a misunderstanding, based on students philosophizing about the nature of threats to schools nowadays.

No arrest occurred, but deputies did monitor the school with an increased presence during their investigation.

OCSO officials said the situation was addressed with all parties identified but that no further information is available for release, per state statutes.
