Orange County School Board members tonight will select names for each of the three new schools slated to open this fall in the Horizon West area.

Three potential names for each of the two elementary schools — Site 49-E-W-4 and Site 25-E-SW-4 — as well as for the new middle school, Site 37-M-SW-4, have been submitted by Superintendent Barbara Jenkins. Each of the names was gathered via a survey sent out to parents and community members, who were able to suggest and vote on them.

Site 25-E-SW-4 is located at 9131 Taborfield Ave., Orlando, and will relieve Bay Lake and Sand Lake elementary schools. The three potential names the school board will vote on during the Tuesday, March 12, meeting are Castleview Elementary School, Lake Mabel Elementary School and Seven Seas Elementary School.

Site 49-E-W-4 is located at 16000 Water Spring Blvd., Winter Garden, and will relieve Keene’s Crossing and Independence elementary schools. The three potential names for this school are Horizon West Elementary School, Storey Grove Elementary School and Water Spring Elementary School.

Site 37-M-SW-4 is located at 8200 Tattant Blvd., Windermere, and relieves Bridgewater Middle School. The three potential names are Windermere Middle School, Horizon West Middle School and Lakeview Village Middle School.

Final names will be announced following the school board meeting. For more information on the three new schools, click here.
