Pedestrian hit and killed by SunRail train

Little is known about the victim, but the Winter Park Police Department said it is currently fully investigating the event.

At 12:03 p.m. the Winter Park Police Department received a call regarding a pedestrian being hit by a SunRail train was just west of New York Avenue and right before Pennsylvania Avenue, said Sgt. Garvin McComie — the PIO at at the department.

McComie confirmed that the pedestrian that was struck by the train was killed.

"Right now it is still early in the investigation, but it looks like basically a pedestrian was walking on the tracks when a train hit it," McComie said. "Right now we are still trying to determine if it was intentional or accidental, and we are still trying to determine the gender and approximate age."
