Police investigating early-morning death in Winter Garden

A woman was shot Monday and later died at a local hospital.

Winter Garden police are looking for a suspect in the early-morning death of a woman at 531 S. Woodland St. At about 1:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, officers responded to a vacant lot in reference to shots fired and located the victim.

The woman, 37-year-old Bowonna S. Rodger, who lives in the Orlando area, was taken to an area hospital, where she died from her injuries.

This is an active and ongoing investigation, and the Winter Garden Police Department has no additional information to share at this time.
