A local coffee shop is partnering with The Nurture Place to help children in need during the holiday season.

Prairie House Coffee, which we first told you about here, is owned by two sisters with a passion for sustainable practices and holistic eating who opened the shop near downtown Oakland a little over a year ago.

The coffee spot will work with The Nurture Place, a nonprofit organization with the mission to expand access to care for children and families in community, to collect toy and clothing donations for children ages 6 months to 13 years old.

The collection is part of the nonprofit's Christmas Mall, which is a "unique Christmas shopping experience for families struggling financially," according to the organization's website.

The donations must be new and unwrapped.

Donations will be accepted through Thursday, Dec. 8, at the coffee shop, located at 4 S. Tubb St.
, in front of the espresso machine.
