Rollins came back just in time to tie St. Leo in their final meeting of a three game series, leading to an unusual tied series after the teams split their other two games.

But it was a wild one for the Tars (20-18-1, 7-10-1), who had three extra base hits — two of them triples — in their first five batters of the game as they shelled St. Leo (29-13-1, 9-8-1) early on. They piled on five runs in the first inning alone thanks to Zach Persky and Hunter Mayfield’s triples plus a double by Matt Hendricks. Meanwhile Rollins starter Isaiah Sakany had a drama free first inning before giving up four runs on six hits in the second, being pulled after just 1.1 innings of work. The teams would trade rallies for seven innings before rain called it at 7-7.

The Tars go on their biggest road trip of the year this weekend, heading to New England for games against Assumption, Saint Anselm and Bentley before returning home to host NSU (24-16, 6-9) starting at 6 p.m. May 3.
