Recruiting: West Orange sophomore Nemea Hall earns offer from UCF | Observer Preps

The offer from the nearby UCF Knights is likely the first of many for the running back from Winter Garden.

West Orange High's Nemea Hall ran for 1,500 yards as a sophomore this past fall, scoring 23 touchdowns on the ground and two on receptions.

In the Warriors' bowl game against Lyman Nov. 9, a 70-32 victory, he broke single-game program records for rushing yards in a game (350) and touchdowns (five).

And, as it turns out, people in the college football recruiting world took notice — Hall was offered by UCF Tuesday.

"It's a blessing," Hall said. "All I ever wanted since I was a kid playing Pop Warner was a D-1 offer."

West Orange coach Bob Head says the Knights are one of several schools who are looking to recruit Hall, a running back, given his size for his age and explosive running ability.

"Not many (Class of) 2020 grads look like him," Head said of Hall. "I think he’s very motivated. ... He’s talking about hitting 2000-yards rushing (next season)."

Hall is now the second Warrior to have picked up an offer from the Knights since new coach Josh Heupel took over. West Orange junior wide receiver Darrell Harding has also been offered to join the hometown team. Heupel visited campus recently and offensive assistant Jeff Lebby has been the main recruiter of the players from West Orange.

Head says the new staff at UCF has made a good first impression.

"I really like (Heupel) — I think he's going to be awesome for UCF," Head said. "He's a tremendous recruiter when it comes to relationships and recruiting his backyard."

And, while Hall is eager to be recognized with offers from more Division I programs, he says the Knights made a strong impression on him and are already a formidable contender.

"It's just a blessing they're only (a few) minutes away," Hall said. "I like everything about what they have going on over there — their facilities, that they went undefeated and that they're close to home."
