Rollins football kicks off just as the UCF Knights get the week off after a big win. In their next games the Tars are hoping to capture an opening win for the second straight season while the Knights wait to host No. 12 University of South Carolina. Both are hoping for historic seasons.

Rollins football is back on the gridiron this weekend in the team’s third year of a long-in-coming comeback. The team heads to Morgantown, W.Va., to face Longwood University to start the season this week.

“We’ve definitely started something here and it’s going to continue to grow,” Rollins quarterback and team founder Jeff Hoblick said after last season. The team has started at the club level, soliciting private donations to keep it going. The Tars finished 1-3 in 2012, falling to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 49-17.

The Tars have never faced Longwood University. They’ll kick off at 11 a.m. Sept. 21.

The same weekend that the Knights host the South Carolina, the club team will be down to face Rollins in the Tars' first home game of the season. That'll be Sept. 29, though kickoff time is TBA.
