Week Nine Game of the Week:

Santa Fe Catholic 37, Legacy Charter 32

A touchdown pass from Colton Liddell to Dillan Hudson with five minutes left in the game, along with the ensuing two-point conversion, gave the visiting Legacy Charter Eagles a 32-31 lead — but it would not hold.

A touchdown run by Santa Fe Catholic roughly a minute later would put the Hawks up for good in the 37-32 thriller.

Legacy had trailed by as many as 16 points early in the second half before putting together a valiant comeback effort. Liddell tossed four touchdown passes on the night, three of which went to Connor Knecht.

The Eagles are now 5-3 and will travel to Fort Myers on Oct. 31 to take on Southwest Florida Christian (4-3).

Foundation Academy 24, Trinity Prep 20

The Foundation Academy Lions scored a big road win on Friday — a win that could give the Lions some significant momentum just a week away from the biggest game of the season.

Foundation (4-4) rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Trinity Prep, a Class 3A program, 24-20.

Quarterback Jacob Murphy rushed for a two-yard score with roughly eight minutes to play to give the Lions a 21-20 lead and placekicker Colby Adamson helped seal the deal with a 25-yard field goal with two minutes left.

Foundation will now host Agape Christian on Oct. 31 at Walker Field in a win-and-you’re-in showdown for district runner-up and the Class 2A State Playoffs spot that comes with it.

Windermere Prep 52, Bishop McLaughlin 14

The Windermere Prep Lakers remained undefeated on Friday with a 52-14 win over Bishop McLaughlin to celebrate the program’s Homecoming.

The night was highlighted by the game, which was played at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports, the crowning of the king and queen and Michael Stones’ kickoff return touchdown.

The touchdown by Stones is unique in that it is the fifth kickoff return for a touchdown by Stones, a senior, in as many games.

Windermere Prep coaches believe Friday’s touchdown set a national record for consecutive games with a kick return touchdown.

The Lakers are 7-0 and will host Community School of Naples next Friday, Oct. 31, in the opening round of the Sunshine State Athletic Conference Playoffs.

CFCA 44, All Saints 8

Although they got off to a slow start, including allowing an early safety, the CFCA Eagles improved to 7-1 to conclude the Sunshine State Athletic Conference regular season with a 44-8 victory over visiting All Saints.

The win helped to celebrate the school’s Homecoming festivities.

The Eagles led 20-2 at halftime and never looked back.

CFCA will travel to take on Mount Dora Bible in the opening round of the SSAC Playoffs on Oct. 31.

Thursday’s games

Dr. Phillips 34, Evans 15

Senior quarterback Rudy Norwood Rudy Norwood passed for 236 yards and a career-high four touchdowns to lead Dr. Phillips to a 34-15 victory over visiting Evans, DP’s 31st consecutive regular season win, to stay undefeated at 8-0.
