A suspect was arrested by the Orlando Police Department in Winter Park this evening after refusing to pull over for a traffic stop, according to a statement from the department.

At about 4:50 p.m., officers attempted to make a vehicle pull over at Claracona Ocoee and Pine Hills roads. The vehicle fled from police and ended up at the Publix at 741 S. Orlando Ave. in Winter Park.

The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended by police in the parking lot using a taser.

An employee heard the "pop" of the taser and told everyone inside the store that someone was shooting, causing shoppers to rush out of the Publix in a panic

The suspect never had a chance to enter the building. They were arrested on fleeing and eluding and resisting without violence.

Officers cleared the Publix to ensure there was no other suspect in the store.
