TBT: West Orange County goes patriotic

In 1976, everyone in America celebrated the country’s bicentennial.

The July 1, 1986, issue of The Winter Garden Times (now West Orange Times & Observer and Windermere Observer), showed West Orange County in its red, white and blue glory.

Local schoolchildren, churches and communities donned Ben Franklin spectacles and knickers, Betsy Ross bonnets and western gear to celebrate America’s bicentennial in plays, musical performances, parades and more.
