The USA Basketball Men's U17 team places first at the 2022 FIBA 17U World Cup

Windermere High Sean Stewart was part of this year's USA Men's U17 basketball team.

The USA Men's U17 World Cup basketball team won gold for the sixth consecutive time at the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup that took place between July 2 to 10 in Malaga, Spain.

The U.S. defeated Spain during the final game with a score of 79-67. France placed third after defeating Lithuania 66-58 during the game for third place. 

Windermere High senior and small forward/power forward Sean Stewart was part of the USA team. He accumulated a total of 49 points, completed five assists, performed nine blocks and eight steals during the seven games he played.

The USA team was the only one of the participating teams that won all five games during the group phase round. 

Participating teams included Argentina, Australia, Canada, Dominican Republic, Egypt, France, Japan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mali, New Zealand, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia and Spain.
