Third suspect arrested in shooting

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Felony Squad arrested 30-year-old Calvin McClain Jan. 20 for first-degree murder in the November 2013 homicide of Lance “Matt” Whitten.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Nov. 25, 2014, Whitten had just left a friend’s home at 7213 Keri Court and was standing in the driveway when he was shot. As Whitten staggered to get help, he collapsed and died at 7220 Keri Court.

J’Morian Bell already has pleaded guilty to first-degree Murder charge in Whitten’s death. Bell recently entered a guilty plea to attempted homicide in the 2013 West Orange High School shooting.

Antwaun Welch, currently serving a 17-year robbery sentence, is also charged with first-degree murder.
