Three events to watch for at Sobo Art Gallery: 

The Great Outdoors

SoBo Gallery’s September Art Gallery is “The Great Outdoors,” which features pieces created “en plein air” as well as pieces featuring the sea, land and city. Mike Jakubowski of Ocoee is the gallery’s featured artist. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, come meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments at the gallery opening. 

High School Artists Portfolio Preparation

1 to 5 p.m. 

High school artists hoping to apply to art school should attend this session with Dan Colonna, who will give tips on planning for the application process and what to put in your portfolio. Beginning Palette Knife Oil Painting 

1 to 5 p.m. Saturday Sept. 24 and 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25
