Three things to watch for at Ocoee City Commission

Commissioners will look at a planned development final subdivision plan, city federal lobbying services and more.

OCOEE  The Ocoee City Commission will meet at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at City Hall. Here are three items of note among several on tonight's agenda:

  1. Ocoee Landings Planned Unit Development
    The first half of this item involves a public hearing on vacating a right-of-way resolution for Azalea Ranch Lane and part of Johio Shores Road. The second half pertains to examination of the final subdivision plan -- not a public hearing -- for the area between Johio Bay Drive and West Silver Star Road. Azalea Ranch Lane is covered by vegetation, including trees, whereas the piece of Johio Shores Road is paved, has a cul-de-sac and is not open to the public. The owner of this PUD wishes to vacate these areas so they can be included in the PUD area, which is about 20 acres of trees at the northeast corner of Johio Bay Drive and West Silver Star Road. The plan would include 9.15 acres of residential space and 6.89 acres of commercial space among four lots, with automobile sales, hotels and motels among the excluded uses.
     
  2. Federal Lobbyist Services Update
    On April 5, the commission held a special meeting to hear presentations regarding a request issued in December for federal lobbyist services. Presenters included Alcalde & Fay Limited Inc., Capitol Counsel and Global Development Business Consulting Inc., which the commission selected. But selection was contingent on a merger between Global and law firm Akerman, with the contract otherwise going to Alcalde & Fay. At the June 7 meeting, the local state Rep. Randolph Bracy -- who has an office at City Hall and is the principal at Global -- will provide an update on the merger process. The commission will be able to determine a reasonable timeframe for the aforementioned merger, award the contract to Alcalde & Fay or restart its request for proposals for federal lobbyist services.
     
  3. Purchase of Fire Department Radios
    Commissioners will have the option to approve a purchase six Motorola APX 6000 digital portable radios and related accessories instead of the original planned purchase of seven radios. The total cost would be $30,437.52 in the current yeara's budget.
