A rare shooting occurred last night in Winter Park resulting in the deaths of two males – the first homicides the city has seen in two and a half years.

Winter Park Police said the shooting took place around 10 p.m. at the corner of Comstock and Capen avenues. Police arrived on the scene and found one body at the corner of the intersection while another was behind a nearby house. Both died from gunshot wounds.

Last night’s incident marks the first homicide case in Winter Park since 29-year-old Patrick Taft Jackson was shot and killed in June 2013 during a robbery home invasion off of Loren Avenue.

“It’s an isolated incident,” Lt. Pam Marcum told media Wednesday night. “We don’t like to experience this obviously and the public doesn’t like to hear this happening, but unfortunately since this happened we have to come out here and take care of the situation.”

Police said they are still searching for evidence, but currently not searching for any suspects.
