Two suspects arrested in Winter Garden homicide

At approximately 2:55 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, the Winter Garden Police Department received a call in reference to a fight in progress at 521 S. Park Ave., the Winter Garden Village Apartments.  The caller said the fight involved three Hispanic males and was occurring near the mailbox area of the complex.

At approximately 2:58 a.m., Winter Garden officers arrived at the scene and discovered a victim who was bleeding severely. Closer inspection of the victim’s injuries revealed he had been stabbed multiple times. The victim was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Another call came around 3 a.m.  The caller said her husband had been beaten up and was bleeding from the head and face.  Units arrived at the location and it was determined the subject was the stabbing suspect in this incident.  The subject was transported to Health Central for treatment for injuries to his head and face.

The stabbing victim, Walter Martinez, 19, was pronounced dead from his injuries at 5:12 a.m.

The following suspects have been arrested in this case:

Jose Uriel Marquez Vizuet, 22, was charged with first-degree murder.

Gerald Samir Miranda Garmendia, 18, was charged with principle to first-degree murder for providing the weapon used to stab the victim.

During interviews, both subjects admitted to their involvement in the incident.

The family of the deceased has been notified.

Both subjects were transported to Orange County jail without further incident.
