The Walt Disney Company donates to OneOrlando Fund

The company will donate $1 million to the fund, which seeks to help the Orlando community and others affected by the Pulse nightclub shooting.

The Walt Disney Company has announced a $1 cash commitment to the OneOrlando Fund. 

The fund, which was started Monday, June 13 by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, will provide funds to respond to community needs following the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. The Central Florida Foundation is tasked with distributing the funds, which will go to nonprofits supporting the victims, affected communities such as the LGBTQ, Hispanic and faith communities and other causes the Foundation deems appropriate. 

The Walt Disney Company has also agreed to match employee gifts. As other gestures to help the community, the company is allowing cast members can also give blood at five locations across Disney property. 

"We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act," said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said in a statement. “With 74,000 cast members who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones.”
