WINTER GARDEN — Nathan Schreckengost was strong on the hill in 3.1 innings of relief work for the West Orange Warriors on Thursday, picking up the win as the Warriors rallied to defeat Wekiva, 9-4.

Schreckengost came on in relief in the top of the third inning after the Mustangs had scored four runs, taking a 4-2 lead, and ended the visitors' rally to give West Orange (5-4) a chance to respond with its bats.

"(Schreckengost) coming in there and doing that for us was huge," head coach Jesse Marlo said. "We just converted him into being a submarine pitcher, he's only thrown about two innings down there, and he went out there ... and threw some good curve balls and things like that that I need to see."

Ryan Welsh closed things out for the Warriors, picking up the save.

West Orange was led at the plate by by Welsh, who went 2-for-3 on the night and drove in three runs. Roberto Guillen also had a pair of RBIs for the Warriors, who got back above .500 with the win — ahead of next week's district home-and-home against Apopka.
