Chamber Scholarship

The West Orange Chamber of Commerce recently honored its four scholarship recipients for 2014. Each scholarship is valued at $1,000 or $2,500 and may be used toward tuition and/or books.

Eligible students are required to be a dependent of a Chamber member business owner, or an employee of a Chamber member business. Students must also be part of a Chamber member public or private school. Recipients must continue their education at Valencia College, Westside Tech or the University of Central Florida.

One dollar from every ticket sold at most Chamber events, as well as a $5,000 annual contribution from the Petro Family Foundation, funds the Scholarship Program. Students are selected based on academic achievement, good citizenship and/or financial need.

The $1,000 scholarship recipient, Devon Leckie (Ocoee High School), will attend the University of Central Florida with a major in business management. The 2nd $1,000 scholarship recipient, Christopher Wattles (Olympia High School), will attend the University of Central Florida with a major in engineering and computer science. The $2,500 scholarship recipient, Morgan Castle (Olympia High School), will attend the UCF with a major in pediatric oncology. The 2nd $2,500 scholarship recipient, Jessica Mojica (Ocoee High School), will attend Valencia College with a major in physician assistant studies.
