Important organizations in the community are banding together to help during the upcoming holiday season.

On Monday, Nov. 22, the West Orange Foundation partnered with the Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves to donate gift cards to those in need at the Maxey Community Center.

Traditionally, the foundation hosts a Thanksgiving food drive, but transitioned to gift cards last year when the coronavirus pandemic hit.

"The West Orange Foundation and Chamber member contributions to families in need during the season is just a small way of giving back in an effort to strengthen our community as a whole," West Orange Chamber Vice President Krista Carter said.

Some of the gift cards included Walmart and Publix, both which are West Orange Chamber of Commerce partners.

The foundation also donates to the Lila Mitchell and Pine Hills Community Centers.
