West Orange: Sports High 5 — June 6, 2019

RDUTennis is offering up a half-day tennis camp at Stoneybrook West from Monday, June 24, to Thursday, June 27.

1. West Orange alum and UNC junior pitcher Tyler Baum was selected with the 66th pick of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics Monday, June 3. 

 

2. On Saturday, June 1, Winter Garden Little League officially announced this year’s Little League All-Stars. The team includes Charlie Eidelman, David Acevedo, Erick Martinez, Jason Cortese, Josh Lore, JJ Dennison, Kas Ocasio, Keith Holden, Keston Gomez, Luke Garrison, Nicolas Caso, Parker Hohnstock and Wrigley Bates. The team will be led by manager David Ocasio.

 

3. Ocoee High boys basketball coach John “Sarge” Siers will be holding a basketball camp from Monday, June 24, to Wednesday, June 26. The lessons will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Ocoee High School and are open to both boys and girls ages 8 to 14. For more information, email [email protected] or call (828) 719-9525.

 

4. RDUTennis is offering up a half-day tennis camp at Stoneybrook West from Monday, June 24, to Thursday, June 27. The camp is designed for novice-level children ages 5 to 14, and will teach the fundamentals of the sport of tennis. A second camp will be offered up from Monday, July 8 to Thursday, July 11.

 

5. Every Tuesday evening, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., the Jim Beech Recreation Center in Ocoee hosts the Autism Gym Program. The program is open to all ages and disabilities, and any family member is welcome. It is an open gym night during which kids can take in numerous sports.
