Several West and Southwest Orange County competitive cheer teams competed at the FHSAA Region 2 championships at Bishop Moore Catholic High School on Jan. 22 and came away with great results.

Dr. Phillips took first place in the small school tumbling division, which featured around a dozen teams. With the win, the team automatically qualifies for the state finals.

Not to be outdone, Foundation Academy made it three in a row with a win in the large school non-tumbling division, which featured a crop of about eight teams. This was the Lions' third straight regional championship. They also automatically qualify for the state finals in Gainesville with their victory.

Windermere followed up by winning the co-ed division.

West Orange placed third in the small school tumbling division, which also qualifies them for state. Because they placed third, they have to compete in the semifinals for a chance to get into the finals.

The FHSAA state finals for competitive cheer will take place Feb. 1 thru 2 in Gainesville.
